Exam Center: Philadelphia Exam Date: 3.July.2007 Result: Passed Weeks for Result: 6 My Experience: I was nervous going into the exam. Waiting for what lies ahead in each of the 12 rooms. My first 2 patients didn't go too well maybe because of my anxiety. But I did the protocol ..knock, introduce yourself, smile, and did the routine PAMHUGSFOSS and LIQORAAA. I missed closing on two cases and forgot some counseling in smoking or safe sex practices. I couldn't figure out the right diagnosis for some and I am sure I missed on doing some specific physical exam that I needed to do. But with the grace of God I passed. I really felt nervous coming out of the exam thinking about all the mistakes or questions I missed. But I know I did the best I could. My Advice & My Errors: I really think what makes someone pass is how you treat your SP or patient. Put yourself in the situation and treat them like your very own patient. Be understanding and listen to them and empathize with them. I think that made the most difference..not if you can diagnose the patient right but that you able to interact with them compassionately and truly from your heart. I would like to take this opportunity to thank this site because it is where I was able to get some good advice and able to practice with other people taking this exam. My advice would be to find someone to practice with..time yourselves and keep practicing one on one in person until you feel comfortable. My Stay / Cost / Travel to Center: I stayed in Sheraton City Center in Philly for $139..thats already with discount if you are taking CS. Took the Septa train from trenton to philly and walked to the hotel..the center is about 3 minute walk from the hotel and there are cute little stores around you can walk to and even tour Univ. of Penn.
