    Exam Center:Atlanta
    Exam Date:27.May.2008
    Result:Passed
    Weeks for Result:6
My Experience:The exam was not very tough. Cases were easy. I studied from USMLE world and First Aid and believe that these two books cover all aspects of exam very nicely. The proctors were very co operative. Many of the SPs looked anxious once I entered the room but looked relieved after I answered their question and tried to calm them down and believe me u cant do this unless you yourself are relaxed and calm.
My Advice & My Errors:Stay calm and confident during the exam. I know it is easier said then done but this is what has always helped me a lot doing well in all my exams. Also it’s our profession to deal with patients day in and out so this exam should also be considered a similar experience and not an encounter with aliens. Also an important advise which many others give is to take a couple of minutes outside at door and make four quadrants on your rough sheet. At the top write down the chief complaint or reason for the encounter. In one quadrant write down the list of differential diagnosis, leave one blank for writing any points from history u wanna note down, write PAM HUGS FOSS in third and write down COUNSELING in fourth and make sure you write here anything during history that patient needs to be counseled for. At the end you can have a look at the paper and would know if u need to ask anything else and also what to counsel your patient for. My first mistake was not to draw the footpad for the patient whom my SP had to ask for but then I apologized to him for that and later remembered to do it for the rest of the patients. Also I forgot to do many things on history and examinations in many of my patients but I made sure that I greeted my patient nicely on entering the room, washed my hands before each examination, listened and answered the question they had for me(each SP had a challenging question) and explained everything to patient before leaving thus ending the encounter smoothly and I think this is what as a whole helped me get thru.
My Stay / Cost / Travel to Center:Stayed at sheraton whioch is just a couple of blocks away. Payed $ 185 for one night. Booked it online where price was almost 50 bucks less then what they asked for when I called them up
