Exam Center: Atlanta Exam Date: 12.September.2006 Result: Passed Weeks for Result: 3 months My Experience: overall very good , really a doable exam , but it requires a lot of practice , preferably with some one in the same field , initially i practiced cases in person , but my final preparations were done with a phone study partner , so phone partners work equally well , so dont kill yourself in finding someone in your area , materials i used were mainly usmle world , which was the best , but i skimmmed through fa also , but i think usmle world was more than enough , physical examinations vds were very short and precisely given in usmle world , which was required in the exam , b/c one have to all the physical examination in 2-3 min , i practiced it with a pillow and some stuff toys , did one or 2 time on my friend too , but pillow can work really well , just time your self well and do a running commintry while doing the physical exam , the center houston was very well organised , pts were really goooooood actors , they were behaving just like the real patients , no accent problem , just speak clearly and slowly , they will understand u , some were speaking slow , some knew that timing was a issue , so they were quick , but keep smiling during the encounter , start smiling before knocking the door ,, so u dont forget to be smiling , show all your empathys and concern , practice it with a mirror or a partner , to judge yourself , if proper empathy and your concern is conveyed through your voice, in short become a good actor yourself, practice is a key for success and definately allah s there to give us all the courage , believe in u ! My Advice & My Errors: practice pt notes well , timing is not an issue but hand writing definately is , i spend very less time on them , it was my weak point , i forgot to pull out foot rest for 2 of my female pts , in the middile of the physiical exam i realised that , definately apologised to them a lot , so dont do the same mistake , stick to usmle world , and get that cd from kaplan cs review course , the lady in there , tells u all te minute details of the exam , how h/o should be taken , what questions to be avoided , it was a great help , u can find it through internet , or your home country , i dont have a clinical experience for aroud 5 yrs , but if we follow the right way to study , like practicing every thing in a timely manner , it can be done easily. My Stay / Cost / Travel to Center: i stayed close to the center , now dont remember the name of the hotel , i guess it was courtyard, very good hotel , traveled with my hubby and a little one, so overall travel cost was around $1200,tickets+hotel+CAR.
