Exam Center: Chicago Exam Date: 19.May.2008 Result: Waiting Weeks for Result:   My Experience: hi.chicago center is really very good. very good staff.patients seemed nice and cooperative.i had very grneral normal cases as usual and i made general normal mistakes as usual.few things to rememebr at center. 1. reach on time.that gives u enought time to settle down and relax in the waiting room. everone around would be studying.so if u r not with ur book.dont panic.u can mentally revise wht u r going to say. believe how mant times u must have doen it at home, first patient u do tend to blank out a bit. 2.if u r a vegiee take enough food along, cereal bars,energy drinks, sweets, etc. Food served by them is mainly nonveg, its free of cost obviously( we pay them 1200$).and do remember to get a plastic or paper bag alongwiht ur food.to carry all u need( food+drink+mint+cosmetics).U have to keep ur bag in locked area. u cant access it durign breaks.so food u need in breaks is kept on ur table. better to keep in a bag ratehr than just lying around. 3.dont wear watches.the usmle site clearly says NO WATCHES. u will have to keep them in lockers, thats ok if u dont have an expensive watch..hehe My Advice & My Errors: I am yet waiting for esults.So not in the best position to give advice.but still, i would like to share with future examtakers. 1. READ FIRST AID AGAIN N AGAIN N AGAIN. ALL CASES COEM FROM THERE ONLY. 1/2 COEM FROM UWORLD. SO DO BOTH. BUT FIRST AID IS A MUST. 2. PRACTISE ON ANYBODY AT HOME EVEN IF U DONT GET A STUDY PARTNER. DONT WAST ETIEM LOOKING FOR ONE. 3. SPEND SOME TIME OUTSIDE THE ROOM ONCE U HAVE READ THE PATIENT DETAILS. WRITE ON UR PAD UR DDs AND WHICH SYSTEMS U WANT TO EXAMINE AND WHICH TEST SU WANNA DO. WRITE PAMHUGSFOSS. SO WHEN U GET IN U KNOW HT TO DO AND JUST TICK IF U HAVE EXAMINED TH ESYS. 4. PRACTISE COUNSELLING.WRITE DOWN FEW SENTENCES FOR EACH PROBLEM. 5. GET BLANK PATIENT NOTE PRINTOUTS OF ONES GIVEN IN FIRSTAID. PRACTISE WRITING THEM IN 10 MINS. 6. COUNSEL PATIENTS ABT SMOKING ALCOHOL IMMEDIATELY WHEN THEY GIVE HISTORY. 7. SPEND GOOD TIEM WASHING HANDS. 8. ALL PATIENTS HAVE A QUESTION TO ASK. BE PREPARED TO ANSWER ONE. ALSO MOSTOF HTE SITUATIONS GIEVN ANT STANDARD PREP GUIDE ARE SEEN. PATIENT SHOUTING AT U FOR BE LATE. SEX PROBLEMS, ALCHOLISM, ETC. SO BE PREPARED. I mad emany mistakes and forgot many tests. i dunno wht impact it has on my result. so will update it when i get one. please relax during exam. u remember everythign once u r insid ethe room. may be first 3-4 encounters u dunno wht u r doing. any more questions r welcome. My Stay / Cost / Travel to Center: i drove to the center. we stayed in hyatt quite closeby to the center, i was with family, got a good cheap deal on priceline. many hotels around. Name : doc84
