Exam Center: Chicago Exam Date: 28.April.2008 Result: Passed Weeks for Result: 7 My Experience: It was a frightening experience. I practiced with a couple of friends and I thought it was not enough. My first case was a telephone encounter. I did not practice a lot this type of cases. I felt frustrated because I realized that I had some mistakes in pronunciation. The next case was a pediatric case, and I did not adressed the mother correctly. I was very worried, but I hoped that the next case was going to be easier. As soon as I entered in the third room, a rude man yelled me because he was waiting many hours and he felt really bad. In the next two encounters I did better, but I forgot counseling in both; in the first one about alcoholism, and the second about smoking. I finished the first 5 cases almost destroyed. I was really sad, but I decided to overcome that situation, and the next cases I did great. I was very stressed for this exam during the last 7 weeks, but I received my score yesterday, and fortunately I passed!!!!! My Advice & My Errors: I made some mistakes: In almost every patient I had problems understanding any question or answer, or they did not understand something that I said ( I am peruvian and my first language is spanish). In addition, I forgot 3 counselings. Finally, I did not finish one case due to the time. In spite of those errors, I always tried to smile, I showed concern by every patient, I did not lose eye contact, I did not rush any patient even when I did not have time for finishing the encounter, and finally, I did not lose the faith despite my errors. I failed this exam the last year, and I was totally depressed because I had gotten good interviews. This time will be a success. Good luck my friends!!!
