    Exam Center:Houston
    Exam Date:19.February.2009
    Result:Waiting
    Weeks for Result:6
My Experience:did not get even an hour of sleep the night before because of too much excitement. houston test center staff were a little strict. they're very professional but not so friendly though. sp's were generally friendly except for one who's acting to be really upset. 1st case was kinda difficult because it was a neuro case so i almost ran out of time. i was able to finish it on time though and did closure and counseling. i had a little good luck with that. i did everything digidoc says and it helped a lot. i was so polite and nice to sp's. i knocked with confidence, addressed sp's with their names correctly, greeted with a wide smile and offered to comfort them and put the drapes properly. didn't forget to wash my hands before pe and clean my stethoscope with alcohol wipes. did pe very quickly. did counseling as i went thru the history so i won't forget to counsel and summarized every case at the end prior to closure. i met some really nice examinees from lousiana and puerto rico who gave me very useful pointers too. one even offered and gave me a ride from the nearby mcdonald's to the test center. they were very nice.
My Advice & My Errors:please try to get enough rest prior to test. relax and be nice. smile always and pretend you're the nicest and friendliest person in the world even if your not. made a lot of errors such as forgetting to the ophthalmoscopy on patients with hypertension and diabetes. failed to get consent for HIV testing in one, failed to include a very important differential diagnosis in one case. i guess i made no major mistakes though and i think i will pass it.
My Stay / Cost / Travel to Center:i came from auburn, california and travelled to houston. flight ticket $600 (not stop $ 2-way, got ticket from cheap tickets.com). stayed at baymont inn and suites - relatively ok hotel because they gave me discount and they fetch u from airport. i had a very big and nice, quiet room. i just walked to the testing center, maybe a quarter of a mile away.
