| Exam Center: | Atlanta | Exam Date: | 20.March.2009 | Result: | Passed | Weeks for Result: | 7 weeks | My Experience: | I am an IMG and I was really nervous when I cam in, but the staff at the testing center were pleasant and professional and they made the whole process less stressful. Food was ok. I didn't eat much. Just enough to not get hungry in the nest 3 hrs. You'll be too nervous to enjoy a huge meal anyway. | My Advice & My Errors: | I actually didn't finish the first two case encounters (I should've practiced cases with the time constraint like everyone advised) and I used gloves instead of handwashing. I thought putting on gloves would be quicker than washing (takes practice) but I got so nervous after running out of time the first two cases that my hands just got too sweaty so it was difficult for me to don the gloves. I missed putting on gloves just once but that was for a patient in severe pain asking for immediate relief (I had to rush my examination). I made sure I spoke courteously and sounded professional and confident. I chose my words carefully but spoke very clearly, not too fast and not too slow. I made sure I acknowledged, comforted and reassured and focused on the patient. Mind everything that the SP says and does and just focus on the SP because it will help you to be less self-conscious and nervous. I did my PN handwritten since I don't type fast enough but I made sure it was legible and had no erasures. Most importantly...PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE! Practice taking history, doing physical exam and writing notes for all the common cases! | My Stay / Cost / Travel to Center: | Stayed at Fairfield Inn (5 min drive from the center). Accomodations were perfect at $69 a night. Drove 7 hrs from Florida and back. Just made sure I had plenty of rest before test day. | Name : | wannabeOB |
