Interview Information / Experience: | The hospital is a jewish conclave, and Maimonides happens to be the name of a Jewish philosopher, rabbi, and a doctor. It seems some of the hospitals in NY have their doctor oaths following him.
The day began at 9 in the morning with a power-point presentation of program overview by the chair of dept. He happens to be the chair of the dept. as well as the director of the children's hospital. He charted out his role in the implementation of the program's vision and mission. An efficient and honest guy (no baked truths and half-lies from this guy, quoted one of his co-directors). Then the PD, a visibly aged man, joined him to get to know one another. The candidates introduced themselves and their past work. Breakfast was served meanwhile. Then the program administrator collected copies of our diploma and ecfmg certificates. A video of maimonides residency was shown on TV next before embarking on the tour de maimonides led by one of the residents.
The hospital has a new building under construction, the hope of many of the speakers, that can take another year.
Then the interviews began within the offices of several doctors, and hence had to learn to get around inside the hospital. No medical questions. Reviewed our resume and asked general questions on future plans, etc. No prematch offers were made to me, don't know of the rest. The chair did say that out of match offers are given to candidates who would be informed later. |
