| Interview Information / Experience: | The process of scheduling can get a bit hairy since the residency co-ordinator isn't one of the best (I didn't know which building to go to, since she emailed me my schedule the night before my interview). Accomodations aren't provided, but the ERC is fine at 15$ a night. The actual day of the interview was pretty good. Dr. Bentman (the pd) is a charmer, and the residents I met were very nice as well. The only things that bothered me were: they constantly bad-mouthed U.Conn. as being pill-pushers (which they cite as the reason for their split with U.Conn) and the other was that the residents claimed to have chosen IOL/HH over several really good programs such as: U.Missouri-Columbia, Brown, and of course, U.Conn.
Only one candidate is interviewed per day. There are many IMGs in the program. No technical questions were asked, the campus is really something, workload doesn't seem to be too much and the residents seemed happy. The program seems to lean more towards psychotherapy (in fact some 4th yrs were undergoing psychoanalytical training, and the chairman is a psychoanalyst).
All in all, I feel that it would be a nice place to undergo residency training. |
