| Abstract (about 50 words): | The mutability and fragility of the postmodern world with its aesthetics of transitivity and preference for synthesis have determined a new analytical paradigm not only against the contemporary cultural context, but also in the field of human experience. The idea of placing the experience of space, one of the key notions of the phenomenology of perception, in a postmodern perspective, as well as that of analysing it aesthetically in relation to the imaginary of femininity as intentionality and significance in the field of artistic and literary representation is the central aim of this paper. Our endeavour is to focus on the spiritual-corporeal articulations of femininity and on the interaction between the subjective and objective elements in the British contemporary novel as well as to exemplify this formal and universal structure by highlighting its main features in the debut novel of British author Esther Freud.
