| Abstract (about 50 words): | Marie Lee’s novel does not follow the more traditional path, for example becoming notable in the American society through study, but the development of Chan, a Korean youth, through hard work and physical effort, as he wishes to become a soccer player in order to be recognized as a valuable member of society. During his evolution from immigrant to icon, Chan passes through some critical moments that make him want to give up, but the courage characteristic of his wu nature helps him overcome all difficulties and become a true Korean hero. |
