My Opinion is...:I am from Massachusetts and I have see people being very isolated and secluded from their environment, but never have I experienced not being accepted by so many people that are white and not will to give a young Black woman an opportunity to advance herself. I thought the glass ceiling was bad but I have never had to deal with a group of folk whom like to have the upper hand in such a way that they would degrade anyone and everyone just because of the color of their skin. I am very proud to be Black and have such a variety of cultures within my own heritage, but I have never had an issue with any one of a different race that has made or at the most is trying to make my job a living hell. I have experience the occasional name calling and hurt from people because of the color of my skin but they have never gone out of their way to belittle me and inferiority me as a way to fire me from a job or make excuses to have me quit and leave. This is my first year here in Pittsburgh and I have found that to be true and mind boggling. But, I was raised in a predominantly white area and it was once out of my 24 years growing did I experience the one person say a racial remark and later found out it was because he did not know anything other than what his father whom he admired had told him. Which in lived with his mother who did not care what color your skin was nor were you came from, she was just happy and willing to help anyone and everyone Black, White or Orange? Having traveled a good some of places I did have not experienced the hatred or ignorance that I have here. I know deep down inside eveyone is not a bad person, they one have poor thinking for what they know nothing about.
